Nivaagaards Malerisamling will soon have a new director

From 1 June 2017 Andrea Rygg Karberg has been appointed as the new curator of Nivaagaards Malerisamling, where she succeeds Michael Bjørn Nellemann. Andrea Rygg Karberg is 46 years old and holds a Master of Arts in Art History. Over the past ten years she has curated a number of successful exhibitions at Arken Museum of Modern Art, where she has had the role of curator.

With the appointment of Andrea Rygg Karberg, Nivaagaards Malerisamling will be getting a director with extensive experience of devising and staging a wide range of exhibitions of Danish and international art. She has authored and edited numerous publications in connection with the exhibitions she has curated, and in the capacity of lecturer communicates her preoccupation with art in a highly engaged manner.

Andrea Rygg Karberg had this to say about the appointment:
””Nivaagaards Malerisamling is a world class art collection which I am very grateful to be allowed to work with. I look forward to raising awareness of the museum’s masterpieces from the Renaissance, the Baroque and the Danish Golden Age. The collection offers a historical perspective on our own era and provides the perfect sounding board for exhibitions of the art of earlier periods as well as the latest contemporary art. At the same time, I’m incredibly grateful for the massive local support for Nivaagaards Malerisamling from volunteers, the gallery’s many visitors and not least Fredensborg Municipality.”.”

Chairman Joachim Malling adds:
”Andrea Rygg Karberg has impressed the Board with her knowledge of and vision for Nivaagaards Malerisamling. The museum is flourishing, and we look forward to an exciting new era in the history of Nivaagaard under her direction. In its unanimous selection of Andrea Rygg Karberg, the board has thus emphasised both renewal and preservation. Her dynamism and deep professional insight will characterize the work of bringing about continual progress and new initiatives in the coming years in close cooperation with Nivaagaards Malerisamling’s other highly dedicated staff and volunteers.”
