Tea with a view II

Fredensborg Municipality’s Art Foundation acquired the sculpture Tea with a View II by Danish artist Anja Franke and placed it in the park by The Nivaagaard Collection.

The sculpture, consisting of oak, solar panels, mirror glass and a kettle, encourages pause and meditation, but also interaction. Viewers are invited to boil water in the kettle, pick a bit of mint from a nearby patch and enjoy a free cup of tea in the sculpture overlooking one of north Zealand’s most beautiful views.

The artist behind the sculpture, Anja Franke, was born in 1962. She lives and works in Denmark and studied photography and fine art at the Royal Danish Academy of Art.

Anja Franke has exhibited at numerous locations in Denmark, including Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, the National Gallery of Denmark, Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art, as well as internationally in the US, Iceland and Costa Rica. In 2004, Anja Franke founded instantHerlev Institute (IHI) – an art platform that develops art in relation to private homes and public spaces, both locally and internationally.
